Towards the middle of 2018 and early 2019, I was met with a dilemma. I was a youth Pastor then and had a few young men interested in what it meant to be in the ministry, how to know they were called, and how to overcome any subliminal uncertainties with pursuing that call.

I knew I was called by God, but I didn’t know how to explain how I knew. So, I began to research information, search for materials, and consult the word of God to find a solution. I was amazed by the stark reality that there were little to no resources that aligned with our doctrinal beliefs.

What started as a search for Sunday School material very rapidly turned into what would become my very first published piece. Confidence in the call.

Here is a small introduction.

Confidence. Everybody needs it; few have it, especially in the area of pursuing the call of God. Too many times, ministers replace, “Thus says the Lord,” with staggering questions such as, “How is this going to happen?” “When will I be able to start walking in my calling?” or the most common, “Why did God even call me?” If you are a minister and these questions have not popped into your head, just wait. They will. But there is an answer. Confidence in the Call is a book full of scriptural insight and personal accounts from Thomas Hammond, Jr. and other highly seasoned ministers, specially written to inspire, encourage, and draw every minister to run after their calling with boldness. Whether you are just beginning your ministry journey or have been serving in a ministerial capacity for years, this book is for you. You do not have to live in doubt and uncertainty any longer. If God has called you, then it is time to walk boldly in that calling and do all God has placed in your heart to do. It’s time to throw away the fear, submit to the Spirit of God, and have Confidence in the Call.

Publishing Confidence in the Call stirred up an excitement in me. Not only did I sense the strong need to fill an obvious gap by providing materials and resources that align with our doctrinal beliefs, but I also found it to be a passion.

5 years later I published my second piece, Character of Kingdom Citizens, born out of a sermon series I had preached to my congregation from Matthew 5.

Here is a brief introduction to this book.

In a world that has been lulled into a contentment, this dangerous mentality has made its way into the church. With everything at our fingertips, many have traded the holy for the unholy and the eternal for the temporal. In Character of Kingdom Citizens, using God’s Word as our guide, we will go on our own journey, rediscovering our biblical mandate to be pilgrims and strangers. We will learn from the experiences of those who have lived before us. There will be challenges and conviction, as our nature is confronted with the nature of Christ.

Krissy Fitzwater5.0 out of 5 stars A must read!!

A great book to read, especially for young people just starting out in ministry like myself! Chapter 5 is a chapter that I have always come back to! He talks about the sacrifice of ministry, but also gives the reassurance to the reader that even though we sacrifice for the call of God the blessing that is around the corner is far greater than those struggles we endured!
